Mother’s Day Brunch Ideas

Mothers day is a very big deal to The Ellen Clark Team. We say this as the basis of the office is a mother-daughter team.  It is simply amazing that for years, Ellen and Patricia Clark have provided Central Virginia with their real estate expertise, dedication, and attention to detail. The team knows that brunch is quite possibly the best way to celebrate Mothers Day. Why not enjoy a meal and make new memories while reminiscing on the old ones? To make your quest for the perfect brunch easier we have compiled a list of some of the favorite brunch spots around town. Enjoy!

  1. The Boathouse Sunday Park ( Midlothian, VA)- This ‘Boathouse” location will be serving a brunch buffet 10 AM to 3 PM. (Their Short Pump and Rockett’s Landing locations will as well!)
  2. County Seat (Powhatan, VA)- This joy on Buckingham road will be offering a special brunch from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and a lunch buffet from noon to 3 PM.
  3. Dots Back Inn (Northside: Richmond, VA)- Every Sunday this Northside hot spot serves brunch from 10 AM to 3 PM. Some lunch items are also available. They do not take reservations so make sure you arrive early. Mothers day is always a busy day here. Best quiche in town!
  4. Laura Lee’s ( Forest Hill: Richmond, VA)- Brunch is served from 10:30 AM to 2 PM. We hear the fried trout, which comes with cheddar cheese grits, NC gold bbq, and a fried egg, is out of this world.
  5. The Tobacco Company Restaurant (Downtown: Richmond, VA)- This Richmond staple and tradition located in Shockoe slip is a favorite for many. Brunch will be served from 10:30 AM to 3 PM. Make sure Mom tries the key lime pie.
  6. Hutch Bar and Eatery (Henrico, VA)- This charming treasure is located in the far West End and has an oyster benedict that will make Mom say “wow!” Saturday and Sunday brunch is served from 9:30 AM to 3 PM.
  7. Moore Street Cafe ( Scotts Addition: Richmond, VA)- This is our Saturday pick if you have other festivities to attend to Sunday. They offer the best pancakes in Richmond. We aren’t sure what the magic is they use to make them fluffy and delicious but we aren’t complaining. Saturday breakfast is served from 6 am to 2 pm
  8. Bonefish Grill ( Midlothian, VA)– Sunday brunch here begins at 10 AM. Luckily the infamous bang bang shrimp are offered during the morning as well.

If you have not made your reservation for this Sunday, get to it! Time is running out. Remember with-out your mom you wouldn’t be here so cheers to making her day as special as the bond you share! Happy Early Mothers Day from the Ellen Clark Team!

Spring Break Ideas Part IV: Meadow Farm Museum at Crump Park

*Photos Courtesy of:

For the fourth installment of our series on local and fun family Spring Break outings, we decided to highlight one of our favorites in an area we service that we have not covered in our blog this week. Some may not know that Patricia Clark of the Ellen Clark Team also serves Henrico County’s real estate needs.

Thursday’s Pick: Meadow Farm Museum at Crump Park

History: The Meadow Farm Museum and Crump Park sit on 175 acres at 3400 Mountain Road of Glen Allen, Va. The Meadow Farm Museum was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, and is a piece of living history. The land came into the Sheppard family in early 1700’s by land grant, and the home was built in 1809/1810 with the property being worked on through 1858. The farm house and land were then passed down through seven generations of Sheppard’s. It is legend that during the civil war, Union General George Armstrong Custis actually came to the property and tied his horse to a tree in front of the home. The Meadow Farm exhibits and programs highlight rural southern life.

Reasons to Visit:

  • Crump Park is great for fishing ( catfish, bluegill, and sunfish). There are also wetlands, a nature trail, and also features a playground.
  • There is an orientation center and blacksmith forge that can be toured along with the farmhouse.
  • Livestock!  Can be viewed daily, bringing rural farm life to an every growing urbanized county.
  • Crump Park is dog friendly! (Virginia leash laws do apply)
  • The farm house grounds and park are a birdwatchers paradise.
  • There are animal tours where you can learn more about the resident cows (Bossy and Emily Florence), sheep, mule, turkeys, chickens, pigs, and donkey.
  • Meadow Farm offers  great programs like their sewing guild and agricultural guild. Details about these are available on their website.
  • Nearby is the RF&P park. This park hosts an athletic facility, soccer-football-baseball-and softball fields. There are also 4 restored train cars for viewing.

For all these reasons and more, we highly recommend Meadow Farm and Crump Park are a great place to visit today, this weekend, or any time you and the family are looking to adventure. Enjoy some fun in the sun today and we look forward to sharing more ideas for the family tomorrow.
